Supporting you and the profession

Lobbying and advocacy

  • OTA has been engaging heavily with the NDIS Review, working with the OTA NDIS National Reference Group to develop a range of submissions to respond to consultation opportunities and issues papers that have been released by the Review to date.
  • OTA commenced a Workforce Development Project in March 2023 in response to known challenges being experienced by OTs across the country. Since the commencement of the project, over 100 OTs have participated in focus groups and stakeholder interviews, and OTA has received 2,145 survey responses. We're currently reviewing the data and will soon launch our plan to support OTs on the ground, both now and into the future.

Professional practice

  • After the success of the Mental Health Endorsement Pilot Program, OTA will release the new endorsement program which provides greater alignment with mental health occupational therapy practice across a range of funding programs.
  • Our Student Careers Webinar Series (login required) provided over 730 OT students with plenty of advice to ensure they get the best start to their OT careers.
  • We’re assisting the next generation of occupational therapists to transition into practice with our Early Career Launchpad.

Events and CPD

  • We’re delivering in-person and online CPD and National Events to ensure everyone has access to learn and develop their skills across a variety of practice areas.
  • We offer a range of Special Interest Groups, helping members to connect with other OTs in their area of practice for networking and learning.
  • We’re preparing for the upcoming OT Exchange, held in Perth in June 2024
